If you have just completed your bachelors in science and wondering where to pursue your masters, then think no more. Join us at St. Aloysius college, Mangaluru which has been imparting quality education since 1880. The college is located at the heart of the city atop of the lighthouse hill. The college
has a robust infrastructure: in addition to the equipment and instruments
available at the PG Department of Biochemistry, the college hosts core
instrumentation and facilities such as a scanning electron microscope, confocal
microscope and animal house among others. Also, the
college provides assistance in applying to scholarships such as the single girl
child scholarship, the merit scholarship, the post matric scholarship, and the
minority scholarship.
The department of post graduate studies and research in Biochemistry has a strong focus on
research-based academic attainments. The students are prepared for
careers in research and in industry. The
department has secured funding from UGC and VGST for a number of minor
projects. The department has
also obtained funding from the DAE-BRNS for a major project in the past
and currently with the young faculty members are also progressing
towards mustering novel research proposals.
The
students from the last 10 years have found employments in diverse areas
of industries and academia. What the program offers is something that will build on
knowledge acquired during undergraduate-level biology/chemistry courses. The programme is based on
the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS). The individual papers
will deepen your understanding in the respective fields.
A sizeable part of the final semester is dedicated to the master
thesis; however, the students are encouraged to begin work on their
master theses as early as the break following the second semester.
In addition to the core
courses offered by the department, there are courses offered by other PG
departments, as well as courses in communicative English and in Soft Skills.
